“Power to the people…and to God be the glory”, these were the words I heard from a professing African-American Christian woman, as I warmed up my lunch in our breakroom. She was smiling, full of joy, explaining to me how she is going to buy as many papers as possible to give to all of ‘her people’. To tell you the truth, I am becoming sick to my stomach of this blatant idolatry, not from undeniable sinners, but from the professing African American Christian. I must confess I am tired of seeing black so-called Christians jumping up and down like their savior has now come! I am sick of the I-am-supposed-to-be-happy-now façade because a black man is in presidential seat. Let me say, I am not angry because Obama is president. I truly love Obama, if I met him, I would smile, shake his hand, and if allowed converse with him some of his anti-God beliefs. But this craze for a black man (who nobody even knows what his race truly is) is ridiculous. I live in the Baltimore-Washington Metro area, and I have never seen such antics from so many black folks that claim to be Christians. One professing black Christian informed me of the comforts I can now attain because we have a black president. I guess now my life is ready for change because the filthy United States of America has a black president. I am black and now I am free. Michael Luther King’s dream has been fulfilled; I am now free at last? I am now under a president that is the truth?
John 8:31-36 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
John 12:24-26 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
To be free, and a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, I must continue in His Word. So my question now becomes, is Barak Obama the truth? Or is the color of my skin now free because the head of the country is of the same persuasion? No indeed, for Christians (no color distinction Galatians 3:28) are bond to the Lord Jesus Christ. Our allegiance is to Him, not to man. I should be joyful when a black man is president, a brown man is president, a green man is president, or a KKK man is president. Why? Our King sits on High an reigns over all of us, and I should come under subjection to Him and His authority (Romans 13:1-7).
Now that I have read those scriptures, my anger has calmed. I understand that it is only because of the Lord Jesus Christ, that I am not out in the middle of DC, screaming and shouting “YES WE CAN”. Instead I proclaim “ Jesus Christ died, was buried, on the third day was raised and ascended back to the Father. He will return all praise and glory to God!!!!
Romans 6:1-23 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness. For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
