They call themselves apostles!

My wife (Shannon) and I were spending time together watching so-called Christian television. The program was Praise the Lord on TBN. So called apostles and pastors names flashed across the screen as they were announced to receive recognition from TBN and those sitting in the audience. Of course, I become disgusted at the mess and just laugh at it. My wife then begins to ask a question, which I love when she does. I am thinking “Now is the time the Lord can show us that His truth is in the scriptures, and not this mess on TBN!!” Shannon says, “Where do these people get the power to call themselves apostles? Why do they call themselves that?” Thank you Lord Jesus Christ and now let us dive into the scriptures.

In Revelation 2:2, as Jesus Christ rebuking the churches says:

I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:

The problem is they are calling themselves apostles, prophets and pastors. God is not giving them the names, they are giving the names to themselves. Paul, a true apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ in the scriptures shows us that God gives the name and the calling. Not man. The scriptures says:

But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel (Acts 9:15)

Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, (1 Corithians 1:1)

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 1:1)

See, the Lord truly reveals to a Christian their calling. You cannot be a pastor etc on your own. No, God Himself by His will, will call you into what you’re to do for Jesus Christ. But, these men have taken it upon themselves to be called “pastor”, “prophet”, “apostle”, or “prophetess”. Why? They love the titles and the praises of men. They want you to see them and call them these things as they are robbing you of your hard earned paycheck. Listen to the scriptures:

But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. (Matthew 23:5-10)

Look beloved children of God, we must not fall for this mess. Like Revelation 2:2, we must try these men who are claiming to be prophets and apostles. They are not and must be tried (Titus 1:10-11, 1 John 4:1-6). Have you ever noticed some of the things these men speak about? They talk about “feeling the anointing on them” (not in scripture), “getting your breakthrough”, or “your pregnant with possibility for this next season”. LOL, I’m a man, how can I be pregnant? Anyways we must stay in the Word of God, the Holy Scriptures. The bible is the only measuring stick we should be using. I am speaking from experience as well. These men seem so convincing. They have these big titles and speak these great things. They’re liars, look here at the scriptures:

For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. (2 Peter 2:18-19)

This stuff has been going on for a long time. It’s not new. The Lord Jesus Christ will handle this with God’s cup of wrath! Look, our obedience is to be to His voice, the Holy Bible (John 10:27). I am not saying a man cannot say he’s a pastor but guaranteed, if He’s called by God, that man will pass after being tried by scripture. Look at what the Bereans did

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. (Acts 17:11)
