DAILY DIFFERENCE DEVOTION 05/18/2010

Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,  And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.  (JOB 1:20-22 KJV)

“DEALING WITH BITTERNESS 4: Bitterness @ God”

Have you ever been bitter at God?  We may not want to answer that question right away, but have you ever blamed God for something in your life as a Christian?  Have you ever thought in your mind about blaming the Lord for something He is not to be blamed for?  The reality is God has not sinned against us, nor has He tempted us with sin (James 1:13).  Sometimes we lose something in a trial, and blame God for it.  In fact, if that happens, it may reveal what our heart is focused on at that time.  How can we keep from feeding seeds of bitterness in your heart toward our Almighty Creator?

Jesus Christ is our great example of what we should do.  Jesus Christ never allowed sorrow to fill His heart (John 12:27).  His disciples did the opposite when the heard He would be gone (John 16:6).  Jesus Christ never allowed sorrow or bitterness to prevent Him from fulfilling His responsibilities.  He was a man of sorrows (Isaiah 53:3), and yet He never became bitter.  Instead He focused on God’s purpose.  When He could have been overcome with sorrow, He didn’t.  He focused on His purpose through prayer. We must do the same; staying in our Word (the bible) and praying to the Father.

We must keep our hearts in focus of what is important:  Pleasing the Lord!  The purpose of Jesus Christ must be on our hearts; and this how we keep from becoming bitter at the Lord.  Look at this text below and meditate on it.  God bless.

And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him. And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation. And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.  And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow, And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. (Luke 22:39-46)
