DAILY DIFFERENCE DEVOTION 05/13/2010

And after the uproar was ceased, Paul called unto [him] the disciples, and embraced [them], and departed for to go into Macedonia. (Acts 20:1 KJV)

“TOUCH THEM”

This morning, while working from home, my lovely wife approached me about establishing more physical touch within the home.  I agreed, because I understood that both of our pasts were not filled with such loving affection.  America has become a no touch society.  Father’s are not always affectionate with their wives, and their children.  People around the country are dying, literally, to be touched.  Men, when you give them a hug, they are stiff and not comfortable as you can tell by their body language.  Please don’t think you will kiss one; that kind of touch could lead you to death.

This day, return back to loving affection for others.  Touch somebody with loving affection.  I mean hug somebody today, and try to bring back into your life touching men and women. In Acts 20:1, aspazomai means to draw to oneself.  It was greeting or salutation that was usually made by embracing and kissing.  In Romans 16, the word is used 21 times. Should we not be more affectionate to the world around us?  Let’s draw men to us, even though some may reject.  Let us touch them!

Scripture references:

And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept. (Genesis 33:4)

Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put [his] hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. And he laid [his] hands on them, and departed thence. (Matthew 19:13-15)

So Jesus had compassion [on them], and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him. (Matthew 20:34)

Greet one another with an holy kiss.
(2 Corinthians 13:12)

Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
(1 Thessalonians 5:26)
