Christian Racism?

Love does not work evil to the neighbor. Then love is the fulfillment of Law.
(Romans 13:10 LITV)

And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.
(Zechariah 8:17)
I remember my freshman year in high school. I was picking through some books at my locker when I heard a young white boy call me a “nigger” from afar. I didn’t see him when I turned around but I suspected it was a racist kid I had heard about who frequented the hallways a lot. I didn’t fight the boy because being a black minority in a predominately white catholic school, I would have been expelled quickly. I appreciated my parents were putting out a lot of money for me to get an education at Calvert Hall. I have experienced racism from not being allowed to date white girls to not being allowed in a person’s home because my skin color. Such hatred should not be normal but there is now a norm in churches across America which is worse than 10 rioting Black Panther organizations, six KKK members hanging a Negro, or even Hitler himself. What is it? A racist church or a racist Christian! This can be an individual living under the banner of the name Christian, but hating another race. I talking about that old grandfather you have that talks about God but speaks evil of Jews, and whites. I speaking of the all black church that claims it loves Jesus but speaks damnable messages of black supremacy. This brings sure shame to Christ Holy name.

And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. (2 Peter 2:2)

In witnessing to my grandfather-in-law I have run into this type of so-called believer. He has said that he believes in Jesus, but that the bible is apparently a white man’s book . He has made statements against Jews, while acknowledging the very Son of God, came as Jew into this world. I find many times in discussing Christ with him, he alludes to the fact that he doesn’t hate white people, he just doesn’t like them! He claims that the bible states about hate, not about disliking other people. Well, Karsten, did you show him the truth? Absolutely, boldly enough he cut me off while talking.

He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes. (1 John 2:9-11)

The Greek transliteration for the word hateth is:

to hate, pursue with hatred, detest, VINES EXPOSITORY DICTIONARY says - of malicious and unjustifiable feelings towards others, whether towards the innocent or by mutual animosity. Of relative preference for one thing over another, by way of expressing either aversion from, or disregard for, the claims of one person or thing relatively to those of another, Mat 6:24; and Luk 16:13, as to the impossibility of serving two masters; Luk 14:26, as to the claims of parents relatively to those of Christ; Jhn 12:25, of disregard for one's life relatively to the claims of Christ; Eph 5:29, negatively, of one's flesh, i.e. of one's own, and therefore a man's wife as one with him.

See I like cheese pizza over sausage pizza. This means I prefer cheese pizza over sausage. Racist prefer one race (or like one race over another). They think one is superior to another which is unjustifiable in the sight of God. My grandfather-in-law cut me off saying that it is wrong for him to have to apologize or forgive a white man because the white man was wrong to him in the past. This is why he claims he doesn’t like them. But the scripture speaks otherwise.

Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. (1 John 3:15)

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? (1 John 4:20)

These people walking around saying they hate other races, or dislike certain races of people, they are not Christians. I am not speaking about being uncomfortable around another race. I felt very uneasy attending a predominately white congregation because I was comfortable around black people. I did not hate white people. The Lord Jesus Christ had to correct my feelings similar to Peter’s people pleasing in Galatians 2:11-14.

Brethren, it is not of Jesus Christ to hate another man based on the color of his skin. Not all Christians are black, not all Christians are white. Christianity consist of many different types of people who all love one another. Not every Hispanic who praises the Lord in your church was a gang-banger. Not every black man who is reading scripture from the pulpit has served time in jail. Not all Asians Christians come from countries suffering persecution. Not every bi-racial child is confused about his/her racial identity. Not every expository preacher is a white John MacArthur. Not all Middle Eastern Christians were former Muslims. Am I getting under your skin Mr/Mrs racist so-called Christian? Good! Repent and let Jesus get that mess out of you! If you dislike a particular race claiming you are a Christian yourself, the question now becomes, are you really a Christian? Jesus Christ would not hate another race. So why are you?

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. (Galatians 3:26-29)

  1. Racist christians are the chuches biggest secret, why the racist continue this way? I don't know but I know that it is something that must be overcome. I'm sorry to hear about you gr. father in law. But that doesn't excuse him from working on that problem, it's only to obvious that he's in denial. I don't know how old he is but know of several people that have crossed my path (the aged ones). That have left this wound open and festered to the 3rd power, sad to say. Justifying bad behavior is the wrong path, It didn't work with Adam blaming Eve, and it wont work with us neither.

But I'm realizing through the Word of God that I've got work to do as far as it goes to loving my enemy and praying f/ the one's that despitefully use me. I know that it's tight but right just the same. We really have to embrace the truth of God's word that tells us acceptable behavior, while stopping the dismissing of our black hearted beliefs. Taking a page from the substance abuse manual, that says that recognizing the problem is the beginning of healing.

I would rather someone tell me my fault in order for me to get the necessary healing for what ails me.

Hating people of different races is a direct affront to the God that made so many diverse people to populate this earth.

    Good post!

My grandfather-in-law has been bitter for a long time. But the Love of Jesus Christ can win him. He likes talking with me about these issues, praise God for that.

I was blinded by the racism that is seen in the churches. Now I see it's not of Jesus. Thanks for your comment. God bless
