Scenario Series part 2: Can you forgive?

Okay, here's the scenario:

A man by the name of Robert is upset at you because you had to let him go off the job. You prayed to God to help you find a another way and keep you from doing it. It didn't happen and the boss informedyou to fire him quick. You fire Robert, he becomes irrate and threatens your life and your family's life. He plans to do a hit and run on your wife and 2 children when she walks them to school in the morning. He plans it well enough to make it look accidental. He carries it out and succeeds, your wife is killed and your children as well. In court, Robert tricks the jury and gets little jail time when you know he planned to kill your family. You know because he threatened you before you fired him. (Now remember your a Christian).

Years later Jesus Christ saves Robert in jail and Robert comes out. He struggles to find work for about 10 years but Jesus Christ keeps him. Then God gives him the desire to become a Godly pastor. Robert does, and eventually leads a small congregation of Christians for many years. Fruit of Christ is showing, plus Robert is loving, non-compromising pastor. Then, one day, the Lord leads you to join and fellowship with the church Robert is pastor of. You go and find out Robert is the pastor. Can you forgive? Will you remember that this is the man that lied and toolkyour family from you? Or will you forgive and sit under his teaching (I'll even add that his doctrine is sound)? Robert never asked for forgiveness because you moved out of state when he came to your house looking for you. It's been 20 years since the murders, and you went through a lot of pain. The question is can you forgive Robert? Can you approach him with forgiveness, or will you wait until he speaks to you? Hmmmm! Come on Christians, what does the Lord command us to do and can you obey that?

For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
(Matthew 6:14-15)

Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So his brother their trespasses. likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one
(Matthew 18:21-35)

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
(Colossians 3:12-13)
