DAILY DIFFERENCE DEVOTION 04/27/2010

A woman from Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, Give me a drink. (John 4:7 ESV)

SPEAK

People don’t talk like they use to each other. We judge men quicker than we seek to have a conversation with them.  For example, some may see a black man with a white woman (or vice-versa), and make awful judgments about them quickly.  Instead of talking to them, or even parting their lips in greeting, they stare in amazement.  Why not try and have a conversation, see where people are at?  Get to know them, you may find out they are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.  What’s the first thing needed when you’re engaging a hated culture: you SPEAK!

Jesus Christ stops at a well in the country of Samaria in John 4.  As He is sitting there a Samaritan woman approaches.  Now by doing further biblical research on this text, you’ll find out this woman was not coming at the normal hour to the well.  She could have been the talk of the town; the shameful woman of the day.  What does our Lord do when He sees this woman?  Jesus Christ speaks, He strikes up a conversation. No judgment, no staring; the Lord opens His mouth and speaks.  There were some barriers of Him doing that with a hated people; but the Lord Jesus Christ spoke; He struck up a conversation.

We should speak?  Yes.  We should go on the offence and strike up a conversation with those in the world.  Those that we don’t want to talk to, we should speak to.  Call that person you have a grudge against and speak to them.  Talk to them, and reconcile, work it out and speak truth.  When you see the funny looking person or a retarded child walking your way, speak to them.  Let them hear you, smile at them and begin talking.  Jesus Christ will be there with you.  God bless.

Some Scriptures references: Proverbs 8:6, Ephesians 4:22-32, Colossians 3:8-17.

  2. Praise the Lord PJ. All for the glory of God. I remember it said, "make sure what you do is what Christ is saying for you to do". What is it going to take for us to follow Jesus Christ? Thanks for the comment my friend
